European version of Japanese Fronte (sold at home with 539cc two-stroke and 547cc four-stroke engines) with engine crammed into tail of a 10ft 6ins body shell. Front discs helped restrain 47bhp (gross) engine, which provided a 76mph top speed combined with 40mpg.

In the SC100s, the heavier four-cylinder engine was countered by a balancing weight in the front bumper. The SS20 Cervo received a very minor facelift in 1978, consisting mainly of interior upgrades. In June 1982, the rear-engined Cervo was discontinued in favor of a more conventionally laid out replacement, the SS40.

Suzuki also sold the Cervo in other markets, where emissions and displacement were not of top concern. Early in 1978 the revised Cervo (now SC100) began arriving in Europe. Export cars received a much larger 970 cc engine with four cylinders instead of three. 46 horsepower traveled to the rear wheels via the four-speed manual transmission.

Produced for export, Suzuki transformed the Cervo into the SC100, first introduced in April 1978. The SC100 was known in the UK by the nickname "Whizzkid". The three-cylinder engine was replaced by a rear-mounted 970 cc four-cylinder F10A engine (later used in the SJ410) developing 47 PS (35 kW).
